For the Six Years I Lived in Syria, I Testify

For the six years I lived in Syria (2000 – 2006), I testify that:

The Syrian people are good people.
The Syrian people are kind and generous.
The Syrian people are warm and welcoming towards foreigners.
The Syrian people dignify seekers of sacred knowledge.
Syria was among the most peaceful places to live on the earth.
Syria was among the safest places to live on the earth

Suddenly, everything has changed…
Everything has changed for Syria and the Syrian people.

Suddenly:

The Syrian people found themselves to be the largest refugees in the world.
The Syrian people found themselves among the most humiliated in the world.
The Syrian people found themselves among the most hatred in the world.
The Syrian people found themselves among the most rejected in the world.
The Syrian people found themselves living in open spaces, tents, and in the cold.

Suddenly, the Syrian people know no peace, and know nowhere they can consider a peaceful place.
Suddenly, the Syrian people know no safefy, and can't find a safe place to live.

That was Syria and the Syrian people in the period between 2000 and 2006. Suddenly, this is Syria and the Syrian people, from 2011 till now (2016).

No situation is everlasting in this world. That's probably what has happened to Syria.
No situation is everlasting in this world. For that Syria and the Syrian people need our help (if we can afford), through verified and reliable relief and aid missions.
No situation is everlasting in this world. For that Syria and the Syrian people need our prayers dearly (that's the best we can do).
No situation is everlasting in this world. If Syria can change so suddenly, why do we take our homes for granted?

May Allah save Syria and the Syrian people. May Allah protect us from devastation and sudden misery.

Allāhu Hāfiz 😭
