Introduction

Alhamdulillah; all Praises are due to Allah. All Thanks are for Allah. All good are in the Good Hands of Allah. All affairs shall be returned to Allah. No god but He. We seek His Forgiveness at all time, and to Him, alone, we repent. May His Peace and Blessings be upon Habibi Muhammad, his family members, his companions and all those who follow their guided path till the Day of Judgement.

Speaking one's mind has never been a problem, but making it reach thousands or even millions within a blink of an eye is what was never known in the past.

Anyone with an account on Facebook or Twitter should be able to think loud and speak their mind, either for good or for evil, and get their opinion noticed within a minute, regardless of its social, ethnic or religious influence.

As a result, a 12 year-old netizen can chat with a 70 year-old counterpart without realizing that he’s not able to speak to that same person, who is in the age of his grandfather, the same way in the real world.

In order to explore together and find solutions on how to behave online, let’s come together, to share the kind words, instead of expressing vulgarities and frustrations. I believe this is possible through Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah.

What is Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah?

Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah is a combination of two words; a noun and an adjective, derived from the most beautiful language; Arabic.

Al-Kalimah means “Word”. Al-Tayyibah means “Good or Kind”, when phrased both mean, “Kind Word”.

Therefore, “Spreading Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah Online” simply means, “Spreading Kind and Good Word(s) Online”.

The Importance of Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah

The less we can say about Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah is that, it’s enjoining others what’s right. Engaging in Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah can only be seconded to silence. This is exactly what the Qur’an says in Surah Al-Taubah, 9:71:

وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ اللَّـهَ وَرَسُولَهُ، أُولَـٰئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ اللَّـهُ، إِنَّ اللَّـهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

It means, “The believers, both men and women, are friends to each other; they enjoin what is good and forbid evil, they attend to their prayers and pay the alms and obey Allah and His Messenger. On these Allah will have mercy, for Allah is Almighty and Wise.”

Rasulullah s.a.w. said in a Hadeeth narrated by Abu Hurairah and authenticated by Imam(s) Al-Bukhari and Muslim:

مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَاليَوْمِ الآخِرِ، فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْراً أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

It means, “Whoever believes in Allah and the Hereafter, he should say that, which is good, or let him remain silent.”

In addition to making money, we can invest in being online. Of course, spreading rumours or inappropriate materials online are not acceptable, neither morally nor religiously.

Thus, Allah has encouraged us to speak only the kind words to others:

وَقُولُوا لِلنَّاسِ حُسْنًا

It means, “And speak kindly to people.”[Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:83].

He also said:

وَقُل لِّعِبَادِي يَقُولُوا الَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ

It means, “Tell My servants that they should always say what is best.” [Surah Al-Israa, 17:53].

Finally,

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ ضَرَبَ اللَّـهُ مَثَلًا كَلِمَةً طَيِّبَةً كَشَجَرَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ أَصْلُهَا ثَابِتٌ وَفَرْعُهَا فِي السَّمَاءِ

It means, “Do you not see how Allah compares a good word to a good tree? Its root is firm and its branches are in the sky,” [Surah Al-Ra’d, 14:24].

Kinds of Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah

Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah may come in different forms. I, therefore, divide it into the following:

Spreading Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah verbally

Saying that which is a praiseworthy is a fundamental ibadah. Rasulullah said in a Hadeeth narrated by Abu Hurairah and authenticated by Imam(s) Al-Bukhari and Muslim:

مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَاليَوْمِ الآخِرِ، فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْراً أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

It means, “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, he should say that, which good, or let him remain silent.”

Therefore, Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah in the form of saying that which is suitable, may be in physically conversational style. It may also be in what we communicate over the internet, through various accounts of social media, emails, and others.

Lending a helping hand, by sharing Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah

As much as we can make good tweets and useful facebook status updates, we can spread and share kind words too. Unlike verbally conveying of Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah, sharing good words online takes less effort, but stronger commitment is needed, in order to achieve it. The first of all is to have a clear goal of being online.

Since we are online for righteous reasons, instead of telling the world our frustrations, let’s substitute our displeasure with Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah in a way, that we can share with others and gain rewards from Allah, s.w.t.. A simple click on the LIKE button or the SHARE button may save someone from deviation, and get you rewarded anytime person saved does righteous, thereafter.

الدَّالُّ عَلَى الخَيْرِ كَفَاعِلِهِ

It means, “The one who leads to righteous is [he gains the same reward] as the one who carries it out.” [Hadeeth].

There’s nothing we will lose if we choose not to share Al-Kalimah Al-Tayyibah, but we may change someone’s life, or even prevent another from abnormality or death, if we care to share.

Sharing kind words ourselves is one thing. Another good thing to do is to encourage others too, to do the same. Let them feel that we want them too, to be rewarded as much as we need to be.
