Du’a #74: Praying for Refuge from Utter Ignorance with Allah

When we are in a desperate state, we may fail to show Allah due respect and good manners. This had happened with Sayyidunā Nūḥ /‘alayhi al-salām/. When Allah drew his attention to it, Sayyidunā Nūḥ made this du‘ā’:

رَبِّ إِنِـّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لِـي بِهِ عِلْمٌ، وَإِلَّا تَغْفِرْ لِـي وَتَـرْحَـمْنِـي أَكُن مِّنَ الـخَاسِرِينَ.ـ


“My Lord, I take refuge with You from asking You something of which I have no knowledge. If You do not forgive me and show me mercy, I shall be one of the losers.”

Pluralized


رَبَّنَا إِنَّا نَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ نَسْـألَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لَنَا بِهِ عِلْمٌ، وَإِلَاَّ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَـرْحَـمْنَا نَكُن مِّنَ الـخَاسِرِينَ.ـ
