Alhamdulillah… Infinite thanks are due to Allah the Almighty. Complete peace and blessings are upon the most beloved to Allah, Prophet Muhammad, his household, his companions, and all those who follow his guided path.
While the world is embracing COVID-19, there are some trends worth the attention and reflection of everyone. In this article, I’m highlighting two of them. I’ll then offer suggestions for how to attain clarity when seeking Islamic knowledge without getting confused… further. I will also make a point of caution and a disclaimer. So please sit back and read to the end.
The first trend is pertaining to some Muslims going out of the fold of Islam by choosing agnosticism. And the second is about some non-Muslim famous YouTubers embracing Islam.
Let’s talk about our confused brethren who are exiting the house.
Why Are Some Muslims Leaving the Fold of Islam?
While some non-Muslims are fed up with the empty lifestyles in which they were brought up, or with which surrounded, some confused Muslims choose to denounce Islam.
As a result, the Middle East, likewise all Muslim communities around the world are facing the strongest wave of agnosticism. Yeah, this is nothing new. But the wave this time is stronger than ever. All masks have been put down. Thus, true colours are being revealed.
The truth is, the easiest way to defy Allah’s commands and the teachings of Islam and live outside the boundaries of Islam to claim pretentious freedom is to denounce Islam and declare agnosticism.
That way, one can claim a form of freedom that not even animals who live in the open can afford. No offence intended. But even in the animals’ world, there’re laws to be followed, rules to be observed, and boundaries to be respected.
How is this related to supporting the LGBTQ movement the world is seeing? That’s probably another reflection for another day.
Whether the Muslim declares his agnosticism or subscribes to the LGBTQ lifestyle, he’s easily embraced by the West. And he’s given asylum easily. Little does he know that nothing grants one freedom and happiness when his soul is detached from the heavens.
Let me explain… The body of man is created from earth (soil, clay, if you may). But his soul is from God. He feeds and nourishes his body with food and water that grow or gush out from the earth. And feeds his soul with spirituality that connects to him from the Heavens. No amount of earthly richness can fill his heavenly emptiness. And no amount of earthly beauty can beautify his heavenly ugliness.
It’s worth indicating, that two hardcore Arab agnostics committed suicide recently. One in Canada and the other, later in Holland.
Now, let’s take a look at some non-Muslims who embraced Islam in recent months and weeks.
But Some Non-Muslim YouTubers are Embracing Islam
Despite the systematic war against Islam and the Islamophobia acts we experience first-hand or see and hear about, some non-Muslims take it upon themselves to search for the true objectives of their existence in this life, and ended up in Islam.
From the West and the East, we have some popular non-Muslim YouTubers embracing Islam. This is likely to increase, by the will of Allah.
Yesterday, 20 August 2020, the famous American YouTuber, Victor, popularly know as Whatwaa announced his Islam…
Four days ago, on 17 August 2020, the British YouTuber and Journalist, Jay Palfrey, announced his Islam in Istanbul, Turkey…
Prior to them, about a year go, the famous Korean YouTuber, Daud Kim also announced his Islam…
Not long after him, Yong (the owner of Yongsworld YouTube Channel also accepted Islam…
And this is becoming a good trend. So far, these are the cases we know of. Thanks to YouTube and social media. I’m sure the unknown cases are even manyfold of that. May Allah grant them firmness in Islam.
If you spend some time on their YouTube Channels, you’ll come to one common conclusion. That is each of them has spent some time, thinking, researching, and studying Islam before deciding and eventually announcing Islam.
It’s unlikely that anyone is paying them to convert to Islam. While some may argue that they do that to gain more fans and popularity, it’s clear that they’ve already gained the popularity they probably need before they decided to be Muslims.
Furthermore, it’s easy to get support and money when you go against Islam than when you embrace Islam. That’s if there are any financial gains, at all, in embracing Islam.
A Point of Caution… and a Disclaimer
These new-Muslims are social media, specifically YouTube sensations. While we congratulate them and welcome them with open arms to Islam, we must remember that they don’t turn to overnight Islamic scholars.
They remain YouTubers. And no matter how much they’ve discovered in their journey to Islam, what they need to learn is more than what they’ve already learned. Thus, they don’t serve as authorities in Islamic knowledge for you.
Furthermore, this article in not an endorsement for whatever these new Muslims will say or do as individuals. Whatever they do that goes according to the teachings of Islam, then we applaud them and encourage them on it. And, if something they do contradicts with Islam, we’ll treat them like any Muslim, who’s prone to mistakes. May Allah guide and forgive us all.
How to Seek Islamic Knowledge without Being Confused Further
Whether you are Muslim or not, there’re two types of scholars in Islam whom you’ll encounter. Mind you; both of them are knowledgeable.
The first is the knowledgeable who’s is sincere in guiding you to the right path. When you learn with this type, you learn to practice your faith with knowledge and clarity, and you attain firmness in your faith by the day.
The second is also knowledgeable, sometimes more knowledgeable. But he is insincere in guiding you to the right path. Of course, this is not something he will ever tell you.
Because he’s insincere in guiding you to the right path, the more you learn from him, the more confused you become. He casts more doubts about Islam in your heart by bombarding you with philosophical questions. And he will never answer any of them.. for you. Worst still, he’s likely to flood you with 1001 reasons why an obvious haram is halal.
This, if you continue to be in his company, it’ll be a matter of time before you declare your agnosticism.
Here, I’m not giving you a list of names of whom you should or shouldn’t learn Islam from. This is something you must do on your own. You are free to listen to everyone and learn from anyone. But do so with an open heart and careful mind. Always ensure to make Allah and His Messenger your target, and the reference for the truth.
You may trust a teacher, his honesty, generosity, and whatnot. But not his perfection. Always remember, that none is perfect from evil and wrongdoing. With that, you can digest it when your teacher falls to his human weakness.
But if you perceive your teacher as a prophet more so as an angel who is perfect and never errs, then you’re likely to be disappointed when he falls to his human weakness. When this happens, you’re likely to hate scholars altogether. This can easily lead to doubting Islam and subsequently rejecting it.
To Those Who Propagate Islam
Now… For the Muslim Dā’ī and Du’āt out there, online or offline. You don’t have to compromise and twist the teachings of Islam for non-Muslim to accept Islam. Unless you do that deliberately for reasons known to you and Allah, do know that the truth is accepted no matter how challenging or bitter it may be or seem.
The Takeaway…
With or without us, Islam will continue to spread. And those who are looking for the truth will definitely find it. The truth will continue to prevail.
It’s important for the Muslim to know, that he doesn’t make Islam the religion it’s supposed to be. Simply because it’s the religion of God. And He will protect it however He wills.
However, Islam makes you the servant of God who qualifies for His pleasure. This pleasure is not attained with arrogance and misguidance. Otherwise, Satan wouldn’t have been kicked out of Heaven. It’s attained with submissiveness, devotion, honesty, and sincerity.
May Allah guide us all to the straight path of His, safeguard our faith, and grant each one of us a good ending.
