When we are tired and are in desperate need to sleep, we can sleep anywhere. That's why we, sometimes, sleep in the buses or in the trains. Construction workers, and others who are engaged in physical undertakings, sleep at their workplaces, regardless of whether it's on the roadside, under the tree or beneath buildings and whether it's day time or night time…
Likewise, when we are serious about our Solat, we can pray everywhere.
But… where do we pray?
Why do we make excuses when we know, that the Prophet has told us, that the entire earth is made for him (and his Ummah) as Masjid and clean place for prayers?
The Prophet Muhammad salla Allahu ‘alaihi wasallam, said in a Hadeeth narrated by Sayyidina Jabir Ibn Abdillah, radhiya Allahu ‘anhu, and authenticated by Imam(s) Al-Bukhari and Muslim, when he was outlining the qualities given to him, which are not given to any other Prophet or Messenger:
It means, “I have been given five things that were not given to any of the Prophets before me: I have been supported with fear (cast into the hearts of my enemies) for a distance of one month’s travel; the earth has been made a place of prostration and a means of purification for me, so when the time of prayer comes for any man among my Ummah, let him pray…”
The permission to perform our Solat wherever we are, is a privilege, which no any other Ummah has enjoyed. So, when we rush for our prayers, wherever the time catches us, that can be a celebration, in addition to observing our obligatory deeds, decreed upon us, by Allah, subhanahu wata'aalaa.
Allah knows best.
Allahu Hafiz 🙂
