Bismillah.. Alhamdulillah.. Wasallahu ‘alaa Rasulillah…
It's a New Year, at least academic wise and administrative wise.
Tomorrow, everybody, including infants will be dragging our feet to our workplace and to our school. First day of work/school, after a long break is never welcomed, even though, surprisingly, I heard some who claim they “can't wait to go back to school or to work”.
However, good start is likely to produce good ending, good results and satisfaction. So I thought of sharing with you one of the du'as of Rasulullah, s.a.w., so we can reflect upon it, learn from it, and, hopefully, include it in our daily supplications, insha Allah.
The Du'a
Abu Daud, Ahmad and Al-Nasaee narrated that Rasusulullah used to supplicate in the morning and in the evening by saying:
اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَدَنِي، اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي سَمْعِي، اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَصَرِي، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ
It means, “O Allah! Grant me health in my body. O Allah! Grant me health in my hearing. O Allah! Grant me health in my sight. No god [deserves to be worshiped] but You. “
The Benefits:
When one is fortunate enough to supplicate with the above supplication, they will gain the following benefits, insha Allah:
- Dependence on Allah alone (Tawakkul).
- Following Rasulullah in his Sunnah, by supplicating with exactly what is reported that he supplicated.
- Ears and eyes are singled out from the rest of the body, although they are part of the body, due to the fact that they are the connecting organs to the heart. And the heart; if is in good condition, the whole body gains good condition, and if is spoilt, the rest of the body spoils.
The Reflections:
- When Allah grants one a healthy body, they don't only get to be in healthier condition, they are also granted light body. Light body in the way that, performing ibadah becomes easy; to the effect that, when one goes to bed unusually late, they will still be able to wake up to perform ‘fajr' prayers, on time. This is not because they are not sleepy, nor tired, it's rather because, they are granted light body, as a result of their dependence on Allah, s.w.t.
- When one is granted a healthy hearing, besides the fact that they will physically enjoy good and clear hearing, they will also utilize their hearing in good and for good, in the way that pleases Allah, s.w.t.
- When we are granted healthy sights, we won't just gain the ability to see things clearly, we will also be able to see things in their actual form, plus we are likely to set our eyes only on things that pleases Allah, s.w.t., and that will bring us closer to Him, s.w.t.
So, as we go back to work or to school tomorrow, it will be good to remember to apply a Sunnah of Rasulullah in du'a, and maintain it, in the hope that, it will help us to achieve a good start and therefore, we can look forward to a good ending, good results, good rewards and certainly satisfaction, insha Allah.
Allah knows best.
Allahu Hafiz 🙂
