Alhamdulillah infinitely… May His Peace and Blessings be upon Habibi Muhammad, his household, his companions, and all those who follow his guided path, till the Day of Judgement.
I want to share with you a story of a Hindu lady, hoping that one day, one of you may experience the same or similar scene, and may be given the opportunity to invite someone to Islam, insha Allah. So here it goes.
The Story
As I was about to enter the mosque one afternoon, an Indian (Hindu) lady stood and performed a short prayer, the Hindu way, facing the mosque, and then left. End of story 🙂
Moral of the story and Reflection
It was obvious that the lady wasn't a Muslim lady, but a Hindu. It was also obvious to her, that the “temple” she was facing in her prayers is rather a mosque (Muslim's temple) and not a Hindu temple.
To some people, so long as we all claim to be worshiping the same “god” (supreme being), it doesn't matter where and how one worships. But to us Muslims, this is not the case. Oneness of God, should not be compromised. We are talking about Tawheed.
1400 years ago, the non-Muslim leaders of Quraish came to the Prophet Muhammad, salla Allahu ‘alaihi wasallam, and offered him wealth and women, so they (the Prophet and non-Muslims) could exchange worshiping their gods in turns; they would join Muhammad, salla Allahu ‘alaihi wasallam, to worship his God for a certain period of time, and Muhammad would join them to worship their gods for that same amount of period of time. The deal was unsuccessful!
Also, Bilal, radhiya Allahu ‘anhu, endured (preferring death over life) severe torturing and pains, but did not compromise on his faith.
Quraish were ready for such compromise because they knew for sure, that their gods were false gods, which means their religion was a false religion as well. The Prophet, salla Allahu ‘alaihi wasallam, and Bilal (and other companions as well), radhiya Allahu ‘anhum, did never compromise, simply because nothing in this world worthies true belief.
There's certainly one religion recognized by God. And that recognized religion can't be existing in different forms at the same time. The point therefore is, in no circumstance are Muslims supposed to practise multiple religious rituals (i.e., Islamic, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and others) with the intention of worshiping the ‘supreme being'.
In other words, if a Christian chooses to go to church on Saturdays or Sundays, and goes to the mosque, come Friday, a Muslim is expected to go to the mosque everyday and on Fridays, but he shouldn't go to the church at all, for worship.
Our Responsibility
This being said, I would like to make one point clear.
Should a non-Muslim comes into the mosque, we should make the person feel comfortable, unless the person comes to purposely cause chaos in the mosque, or to mess up the place, and the latter is seldom (or unlikely).
It's our responsibility, especially those who are involved in mosque activities, i.e. Imams, Mu-azhins, executives and others to be ready to embrace such people and teach (explain to) them the concept of Islam and invite them to the religion.
Have you ever encountered a similar scene? Please share with us what you saw, in the comment area below. I also welcome your feedback and questions.
Allah knows best.
Allahu Hafiz 🙂
